Massage Therapy

Remedial Massage Therapy focuses on the soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments, to help the body improve the functioning of joints and muscles, as well as promoting circulation and general body tone and relieving mental and physical fatigue.

Remedial massage uses several specialised techniques to locate and reduce tension in the soft tissues structures. A lubricating medium (usually oil) is applied directly on the skin. This ensures that the muscles associated with the disorder are deeply penetrated. Passive stretching may also be used.

Remedial Massage can:

– Increase joint range of motion, muscular flexibility.

– Improve blood and lymphatic circulation

– Reduce stress and anxiety.

– Relieve Headaches and Musculoskeletal Pain

At Wantirna Osteopathy our Remedial Masseur, Rachelle works closely in conjunction with our Osteopaths and can provide a treatment program that compliments your Osteopathic Management.

Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and management of the soft tissues within the body, this includes muscles, tendons, fascia and ligaments.

The aim of Myotherapy treatment is to restore optimal movement and posture to reduce and if possible remove pain. Myotherapy treatment is also beneficial to soft tissue health, circulation, injury prevention, sports performance and general health. This can be achieved by utilising skills such as remedial massage techniques, trigger point therapy, acupressure, cupping, dry needling, myofascial structural bodywork, joint mobilisation and Gua Sha in conjunction with  rehabilitative and preventative exercises. The Myotherapist will also work with you to help to identify the causes and aggravating activities of your pain and dysfunction.

Common conditions that Myotherapists treat:

  • Headaches/migraines
  • Sporting and occupational injuries
  • Acute and chronic back pain
  • Overuse syndromes- tendonitis, RSI, tennis/golfers elbow, carpal tunnel
